Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the world largest healthcare free zone, today announced plans to establish the first hospital - the Clemenceau Medical Center, in its Phase 2 expansion in Al Jadaf Dubai, and the third general hospital for the free zone, expanding its range of specialized care.

The upcoming 110-bed hospital will have advances such as robotic surgery, and wide-ranging inpatient and outpatient services.

The hospital is part of the Clemenceau Medicine Network of hospitals, including the Clemenceau Medical Center in Beirut, Lebanon, which is affiliated with John Hopkins Medicine International. The Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited Center in Beirut was recognized as one of the top 10 hospitals globally for medical tourism by the independent international organization Medical Travel Quality Alliance.

The Clemenceau Medical Center in Phase 2 is being developed at a cost of approximately AED 400 million in partnership with Khansaheb Investment, and is expected to receive patients by 2018.

Her Excellency Dr Raja Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, said, “We are working towards the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed in establishing the emirate as a global medical tourism hub, and developing Dubai’s key sectors. Phase 2 of Dubai Healthcare City will increase the free zone’s health services and support Dubai’s economic diversification. As a contributor to this healthcare value chain, we link factors of digital innovation, unique concepts, and specialization.”

Her Excellency Dr Al Gurg explained that the free zone’s strategy is built on optimizing healthcare capacity. “In implementing our growth strategy, we encourage investment to increase access to services that are in demand to serve local patients and medical travelers. In doing so, we do due diligence to ensure that such services conform to our governance structure and international quality standards,” she said.

The new hospital will have six state-of-the-art operating theatres, employing the latest available technologies and medical procedures to augment the overall treatment methodologies and improve patients’ medical experience.

It will also have services for medical travelers including a dedicated department with multi-lingual patient coordinators to plan all aspects of medical travel from consultation and hospital admission to transport and hotel arrangements (if needed, air ambulance transportation) and second opinion and consultations via telemedicine.

Dr Mounes Kalaawi, founding CEO of Clemenceau Medical Center (Beirut) and Clemenceau Medicine International, said, “Clemenceau Medical Center in DHCC will deliver excellent services and latest advances to patients in Dubai and the region. It will be one of the main hubs in Clemenceau Medicine Network comprising Centers in Beirut, Amman and Riyadh.”
